Sheriff Stanley Sniff and D.A. Rod
Pacheco Give Russ Bogh Their
Endorsement for State Senate
By Leslie Andrews
Looks like State Senate
candidate Russ Bogh
has the blessing from the two top
cops in the county. At a special
press conference held Wednesday
at the Riverside County Administrative
Center in Indio, Sheriff
Stanley Sniff and District Attorney
Rod Pacheco officially
gave Bogh their full support in
his campaign.
“I firmly believe that Russ
Bogh is the person for the job
and he will grow with the county,”
said Pacheco. “We have to
have good character in Riverside
County and that we
have integrity in our public
offices. I know Russ’s character
and I know he makes good decisions
and right ones, not based on
personal choice.”
“By all accounts, Russ has
been responsive in all the offices
he’s had, and we’re very supportive
of his efforts,” said Sheriff
Sniff. “I know as our next senator
he will continue to put the safety
DA Rod Pacheco, Sheriff Stanley Sniff and Russ Bogh.
of our county as his first priority.”
ogh, a native of Beaumont,
California, has served three
terms as the 65th Assembly District
Representative from 2001
to 2006. During his service as
Assemblyman, he was chosen
to serve as Republican Caucus
Chair, the second highest Republican
leadership position in the
assembly. He also has the full
support from outgoing Senator
Jim Battin and outgoing Assemblywoman
Bonnie Garcia,
as well as backing from the Association
of Riverside Chiefs of
Police, the California Association
of Highway Patrolmen and
the Police Officers Research Association
of California.
“I want to thank the county’s
two top cops for their endorsement,”
Bogh said. “We’ve been
able to reduce budget deficits
and this seat needs a proactive
legislator. When that phone rings
at 3:00 in the morning, we need
someone to get the job done.”
During his time in the State
Assembly, Bogh has authored an
important rape shield law as well
as a law requiring victims or their
families to speak at last minute
parole hearings. He also authored
legislation to halt elder abuse,
to protect children from sexual
abuse, enhance DUI penalties,
increase punishment for arson
and prevent ID theft.
Bogh has worked exclusively
with Pacheco on several pieces
of legislation to improve public
safety in Riverside County. He
also has been combating the issue
of parolees that has been plaguing
county cities like Desert Hot
Springs.
“I have spoken to James Tilton
about the parolee issues,”
Bogh stated. “Any number of
parolees released is a threat to
public safety.”
Desert Hot Springs Mayor
Yvonne Parks and Police Chief
Patrick Williams have also endorsed
Bogh for State Senate.
