the upcoming World Boxing Council (WBC) Super
Featherweight Championship match between
defending champ Juan Manuel Marquez and 3 division
World Champion Manny Pacquiao, Saturday
March 15th, 2008.
The rematch of these fighters, titled “UNFIN-
ISHED BUSINESS”, will be presented live from
Las Vegas, Nevada on state of the art flat screen TVs
throughout the casino and in the Terrace Lounge inside
the Hotel beginning at 6:00pm.
The defending champion Juan Manuel Marquez
boasts a record of 48 wins, 3 losses & 1 draw with
35 wins by knockout. Marquez hails from Mexico
City, Mexico and captured his first world title defeating
IBF Featherweight Champion Manuel Medina
in 2003. Marquez continued his prominence,
winning tough bouts against WBA Champ Derrick
Gainer, Victor Polo, Orlando Salido & Ricardo
Rocky Juarez.
Phillippine born Manny Pacquiao holds a record
of 45 wins, 3 losses & 2 draws with 34 wins
by knockout. Pacquiao has beaten the best fighters
from Mexico including Erik Morales, Oscar Larios,
Emmanuel Lucero & Jorge Solis since turning professional
in 2003.
In their first meeting in 2004, Marquez had to
regroup after Pacquiao knocked him to the canvas
3 times in the first round. With gritty determination,
Marquez fought his way back with swift back
& forth exchanges that kept the capacity crowd on
their feet. At the conclusion, the fighters were so
evenly matched that the judges score cards were
called in to determine the winner. A majority draw
was announced & Marquez was given the victory.
