Police are still looking for a white 1997
or 1998 Ford Econoline Van connected with
the hit and run killing of Carissa Nwene So
far, at least four tips have been given to We-
Tip and the Desert Hot Springs police department,
according to reports, but no suspect
has been arrested as of yet.
A billboard has been erected along the i-10
freeway near Date Palm Drive with Nwene’s

photo, also mentioning a $10,000 reward offered
to anybody who has any information
as to where her killer’s whereabouts are. The
billboard was donated courtesy of Lamar
Outdoor advertising and will remain up until
the killer’s vehicle has been identified. The
reward money was also donated, courtesy of
an anonymous donor.
As for sidewalks, the city will move forward
with the installation of curbs, gutters

and sidewalks in the vicinity that has been
barricaded for safety along Palm Drive where
Nwene was struck and killed on November
16, 2007. The project Is scheduled to begin
construction around April 1st and will cost
about $135,000. Part of the land, which is
privately owned, was donated to the City of
Desert Hot Springs by Luben Rabchev, the
property owner, who lives in Nevada.
