Chill Rally in Bottom of Ninth after Dropping
Five Run Lead in Seventh. Sonora Pilots
15- Palm Springs Chill 16
Down 15-11 in the bottom of the ninth,
the Palm Springs Chill rallied for five runs to
complete a furious rally and defeat the Sonora
Pilots 16-15 at Palm Springs Stadium Sunday
evening.
Sean Lorentz led off the bottom of the ninth
with a sharp single to left off losing pitcher
Billy Shea. After Shea hit Chris Debiasi with
a pitch, Jonny Coit hit an opposite field triple
scoring both Lorentz and Debiasi. Jonathan
Pasieka then drew a base on balls to put runners
on the corners for right-fielder Bud Lilly.
Lilly fouled off four two-strike pitches before
pounding a high copper off of home plate for
an infield single scoring Coit. In his haste to
get Lilly at first, Shea threw wildly allowing
Pasieka to dash all the way from first with the
winning run.
Coit drove in six runs on the night. Along
with the triple, Coit had a three-run home run
in the fifth and an RBI single in the third.
Brian Campbell, the winning pitcher, tossed
a perfect ninth, striking out one.
The Chill will continue Arizona Winter
League games during the week in Yuma, Arizona
before returning home Friday for a six
o’clock game at Palm Springs Stadium.
